About the host
I have lived with obesity my whole life and have been on GLP-1 treatment since 2022. I host The Plus SideZ, where I interview the doctors and researchers shaping this field, and I speak with lawmakers about medication access and quality care for obesity.
If you are somewhere in the middle of your own GLP-1 journey and want to talk it through with someone who has been there, I take one-on-one sessions. These are paid peer support, not medical care.
As seen in
In 2022, I got a GLP-1 prescription and almost no guidance about what came next. I went to TikTok and found a few hundred people doing exactly the same thing. That group grew into tens of thousands.
TikTok is also how Kat Carter and I found each other again. Kat is a friend and former coworker here in Atlanta, and we discovered on TikTok that we were both on a GLP-1. She had a radio background, so I said, let’s start a podcast about GLP-1s.
It became clear this was a bigger conversation than a three-minute video could hold. I spent fifteen years before this as a product marketer in regulated industries, where making complicated things clear is the entire job, which turned out to be useful training for interviewing obesity medicine specialists and turning what they say into something a patient can act on.
Together we have taken the show to two Anthem Awards for social impact, American Writing Awards Podcast of the Year, and a Communicator Awards Award of Distinction.
Advocacy
A lot of what patients are up against is structural, not personal. I work on medication access and drug pricing, which has meant testimony-adjacent work with lawmakers, conversations with journalists at Good Morning America, Bloomberg News and ABC Nightline, and showing up at ObesityWeek and OAC events to keep patient voices in rooms where decisions get made.
